Charlee Graham [ASMTI 2005] American Singer completely changed my life. With a bachelor's degree in music education/vocal emphasis and a master of music degree, I was 32 years old and serving full-time as a music teacher, when I was introduced to Douglas Webster's fantastic program. Under Doug's instruction and with the coaching of his amazing team of professionals, my approach to singing and understanding of my instrument as a whole was turned upside down- or rather- right-side up, and I found a freedom in singing, in expression, and in fully "being" that I had never before known. Since my experience in 2005, my professional career has taken a completely unexpected path. I have taken knowledge and skills gained through American Singer and have thrived as an actress and vocal coach in locales from Memphis to Los Angeles, Santa Barbara to London and beyond. I never dreamed that I would serve as vocal coach to vocalist in a top ten band nor serve as vocal division head of a music college. American Singer equipped me with the skills and confidence that allowed me mobility, fulfillment, and the opportunity to begin making the powerful impact that I always felt I was here to make. Anyone who has the opportunity to study with Doug and his team should jump at the chance and get ready for a life-changing experience!
Nick Gasworth [ASMTI 2005] I attended the American Singer Seminar during the summer before my senior year of college, and I found it to be the perfect way to get myself back in gear before my final year of conservatory-style musical theatre training. The A.S. intensive in Breckenridge provided me with not only a new set of tools as a performer, but with a really giant boost of confidence. There is no substitute for working with true professionals! www.nickgasworth.com NOTE: Nick is currently appearing in the cast of "The Great Comet" on Broadway.
Erin Batlle [ASMTI 2007] This program is near and dear to my heart! I was fortunate enough to spend two weeks working with some of the most talented and insightful instructors. I gained confidence and poise as both a classical and musical theatre performer. The techniques and skills I gleaned also continue to help me as a music teacher and vocal coach. Finally, the relationships and connections made during those two weeks have provided invaluable resources and support over the years. If you're looking to take your performing and/or teaching to the next level, this is an incredible opportunity! Also, who wouldn't want to have an excuse to travel to Sweden or enjoy CO in the summertime?
Liz Holtan [ASMTI 2007] This program is fantastic! The faculty are informed, positive, professional and fun! The peers I worked with not only inspired me, but became dear friends. We had a blast!!! Everyone involved was carefully selected and extremely talented, so I was constantly learning not only from my teachers, but from my new friends sitting next to me. There was such positivity and artistry cultivated in this experience. I truly learned a lot about myself and music.
Nanette Molina [BMTW 1999] My experience with American Singer is one I will never forget. It has helped shape who I am as a singer today -- it really made a huge impression on me. It was so long ago, yet I still remember the training and advice I received from Douglas Webster, and Mary Setrakian. I am also so proud and honored to have studied alongside the amazing talent that developed from that first year in which I participated. Now that my voice has developed a lot more, I would love the opportunity to go back and train some more.
Rose Van Dyne {ASMTI 2013] I absolutely loved being a part of American Singer. I was given opportunities that would have been otherwise impossible for me, and I was able to go through the program with a group of friends supporting me all the way. Now I have a worldwide network of people who believe in me as a performer, and who I can go to for advice when I need help. I'm very grateful for everything American Singer did for me, and I wish my peers all the success in the world!
