Welcome
|
Each participant will walk away with a better understanding of their innate talents and a plan for their development as vocalists and professionals in the industry. Repertoire specific to their current and future abilities will be suggested and an "Audition Book" reflective of their abilities and appropriate roles will be assembled. The vocal work offered in these classes are based solidly in 'classical' (bel canto) vocalism and clearly defined physiology. A class in 'Belt technique' will be offered by a teacher who is a master of the style. And ongoing discussions outside of the class work will include the topics of artistry, professionalism and the challenge of family and self-sustaining employment.
Following each program, a Showcase performance is scheduled to provide performance experiences that confirm the work that was done during the class. In effect, 'kiln-firing' the newly modelled techniques and repertoire in the heat of a live performance. Former participants are currently pursuing careers on Broadway, regional theater, opera and as teachers of theater and music.
Participants of any age are welcome. Participants have ranged in age from sixteen (with special conditions*) to their mid-forties. There is no upper age limit on learning. Our participants have included: High school performers in search of a college program, college students refocusing their objectives and recent graduates in search of needed job skills have all been served by the programs. As well, performing arts teachers who desire an opportunity to refresh their skills and add to their teaching tools have benefitted from their experience.
Faculty invited to teach at AMERICAN SINGER are all masters of their craft. They are chosen for their professional success and for their sincere desire to share the personal and artistic rewards of their craft with those who seek their own dreams and aspirations.
Applications are considered on a rolling acceptance basis for each program. If you are right for the program, and we believe the program to be right for you, we will let you know immediately. Applications will be accepted until the class has been filled.
